Final Deconstruct/Reconstruct Garment
For my deconstruction project I deconstructed sportswear to reconstruct evening wear. I made an evening gown with a fishtail, from different textures and fabrications. This ranged from swimwear to hoodies, jerseys and elastic waistbands.
CULTURE PROJECT - Buddhism and gang culture
Concept board
For this project I chose to do prints, combining Buddhism and Los Angeles gang culture. From the gang culture I chose to focus on the symbolic tattoos and the excess of it. From images I had traced from books and landscapes of Tibet and Buddhists, I layered them to give the excessive look of tattoos in gangs.
If I were to place these prints onto garments, they would be baggy mixed with drapery for the combined culture concept. Each print has many different colour ways to represent the different colours of gangs but also the colourful Tibetan traditional clothing.
SPORTSWEAR
For this project I chose to base my research and collection on winter sports suck as snowboarding and skiing. Along with the sport aspect, we had to incorporate a London landmark and so I chose the tube map from the London underground. I made to concept boards to help represent my theme and evoke a colourful, fun tone and mood.
Taking inspiration from details on all sports clothing, I was able to sketch many design ideas and translate tem into my winter sport inspired initial designs. I also took inspiration from a menswear designer Walter Van Beirendonck for his use of colour and structure to influence a new spin on my Womenswear collection.
